지난 4월 캐나다 연방 최저임금이 $17.30 달러로 인상되었다.
그러나 이 시급은 연방 규제를 받는 민간 부문인
은행, 통신, 항공, 해상, 철도, 운송 등 에서 근무하는 직원들에게만 해당되었고,
주별 최저임금은 달랐다.

현재 캐나다에서 최저임금이 가장 낮은 주는
$14로 서스캐처원(Saskatchewan)주다.
시간당 $19로 가장 높은 시급을 받는 곳은 누나붓(Nunavut) 주이고
온타리오주는 $16.55이다.
2024년 10월 1부터
온타리오주는 시간당 $17.20
서스캐처원(Saskatchewan )은 시간당 $15 등 최저임금이 인상된다.
